Southern Cross is located among the rolling hills and valleys of
West Tennessee just 40 miles east of Memphis, the home of the blues
and the King of Rock-n-Roll, in a secluded serene setting in the
quaint town of Somerville.
The 800 acre facility was at one time part of an enormous plantation
until the owner just disappeared, never to return. The land was
then divided and sold in several parcels. To date Southern Cross
makes up 3/4 of the original plantation. In the future we hope to
acquire the additional parcels which would enlarge the facility
to approximately 1,200 acres. Located on the property you will find
one lake, and seven ponds stocked with fish of all types, including
white catfish, trees, wildlife and exotic animals galore as well
as an old cemetery dating back to the Civil War period and an original
(1821) log cabin with outhouse still in tack. This farm makes an
incredible place for breeding, training and trail riding. On any
given day while riding among the glorious hills you come across
deer, eagles, wild turkey, buffalo, camels, osterich, llama's, sheep
and more.
The equine training facility consist of an 18 stall hand sewn
cypress barn, outdoor arena, outdoor round pen, and several turn
out paddocks. Under construction for the new millenium will add
an additional 20 stall barn, covered arena, covered round pen and
several more turn out paddocks.
We feel as though we have a little piece of heaven on earth and
the perfect place to expand our business while nurturing the animals
in our care through various stages of growth, training and breeding.
Through honesty, integrity and hard work our goal is to build one
of the finest Paso Fino training and breeding facilities in the
United States where our clients, customers, and friends feel as
though they are a part of something very special and have an extended
family for life.
We welcome you to come visit our animals and ride among the clouds
on the back of what we believe to be the most incredible, powerful,
elegant smooth-gaited horse, - the Paso Fino.
